Perennial, ornamental, herbal plant reaching up to 60cm (23.6in) tall. Sets lovely bright yellow colour fruits, housed inside a delicate husk that resembles a yellow lantern. Fruits are mild, sweet and slightly acidic flavoured, going well (both fresh and dried) eaten on its own, as well as with a variety of deserts, Mexican dishes and as food decoration. Lantent is not edible, only the fruits, which are rich in vit C. Sensitive to cold and frost. Fast and easy growing, maturing in 60-70 days. Makes beautiful container plant, can be grown both, indoors and outdoors.
Growing: Planting season: spring, indoors, 6 weeks prior the danger of last frost is gone. Seeds require 70-80F (21-28C) for germination.
Soil: well drained, average fertile soil with a pH 6-7.
Sowing depth: 1/4in (0.6cm) deep.
Spacing: 24-36in (61-91cm) apart.
Light: full sun.
Watering: regular to keep the soil moist but not wet.
Fertilizing: not needed.
