These intensely beautiful popcorn kernels look exactly like translucent glass beads. Due to their unique rainbow colours and bright, luscious look, the kernels have been compared to gems. Used mainly for decoration and ornamental purposes, (obviously) these corn plants are also incredibly flavourful and juicy; the most popular form it is served in is popcorn, but it can also be eaten fresh, turned into cornmeal, and added to many dishes.
Planting: Year round in tropical climates avoiding rainy season (unless planted in pots in the sheltered area). In temperate climate, plant in spring one-two weeks after last frost date, when the soil is approximately 70°F (21°C). Soil: Fertile, well drained soil. Sowing Depth: ¾ inch (.9 cm) deep. Spacing: 6-7 inches (15-17.5 cm) apart. Light: Full sun. Watering: Water frequently to keep soil moist, but not soggy. Fertilising: Optional. Harvest in 100 days.
